Scottish Endurance Riding Club – Grampian Branch – Spyhill – 30/10/12

After having several months away from endurance rides I have to say I was itching to get back to it! Yesterday we went up to Aberdeenshire to do a 21k ride at Spyhill. It was great to be out and about again!

I rode Oscar and joining us was Nicola riding Joyce (4 year old unregistered mare) and the lovely Jaqui riding Jolien. It was a first for both Nicola and Jaqui but a good day was had by all.

It was a nice route up through the forest and riding though beautiful countryside but a shame the ground was so wet which made it pretty hard going for the horses, that said all three managed really well and put all of their effort into it. My little 4 year old mare, Joyce was such a good girl and we were really pleased with her as this was her first pleasure ride and was quite a test for the older horses but she didn’t struggle at all, in fact I think Oscar struggled more than her as he is a big bulky lad so doesn’t appreciate heavy wet ground.

All in all it was a nice ride and lovely day, even the sun came out which made it that little bit nicer.
