Scottish Endurance Riding Club – Seacliff- Lothians

This was one of the best days that I have had at a ride! Such a beautiful setting and the two horses that Nicola and I rode were so well suited in speed and enthusiasm. As always, I took my boy Oscar and Nicola was riding my little 4 year old mare Aline. It was a 25k ride which took us along grassy tracks, paths, only a tiny bit of road, forest tracks and our favourite part was the beach section. It really was just amazing, there is something strangely calming about letting your horse go on a beach on a beautiful day with stunning views. If anyone has had a stressful week I would suggest going on a long distance ride with your horse because you just can’t beet it!

It was Aline’s first pleasure ride and she loved it, her little ears were forward pretty much the whole time and she was keen to keep right up with Oscar, who was on his own little mission to see how many horses he could find on the ride. Oscar either didn’t realise his size or simply didn’t care as he was trying to fly in-between the trees at one part of the ride, as he was desperate to see if anyone was in front of us to catch up to. I was ducking under branches then would hear strange noises from Nicola who was behind us and had either just missed the branches or had been swiped by them, oh it was just so much fun!  When the horses enjoy it as much as these two did, it makes the whole experience so much better.

Thank you to the organisers fore such a fabulous day and for marking out the route so well for people like me who can be easily confused by maps!

Also thank you very much to Andrew White for sending me some pictures!
