Auchencrow- Border branch 03/09/11

Another long haul a few weeks ago, this time down to Auchencrow which is a place I had never been before nor heard of actually. The countryside is all very pretty down there and the ride was easy going, perhaps a little too easy as we completed the 20k ride a bit quick! It is a good time of the year for riding as all of the farmers are busy harvesting their fields, giving us lots of places to canter!

I had Oscar as usual, he was on good form at the beginning but then lost interest at the end as he couldn’t see any horses in the distance to chase. He has great fun catching up to and overtaking other horses on rides and becomes bored if he doesn’t see any.
Gemma rode my 6 year old gelding who I was slightly worried about taking as he is carrying excess weight right now but his heart rate was the best any of our horses have ever been and he managed really well.
Also with us was Gail whom has been coming out to gain some confidence after loosing her way a little (see news section ‘unrideable schoolmaster’). Gail’s riding has improved massively and with it as has her confidence, she rode very well and enjoyed the experience. Her partner for the day was Ramkje who loves pleasure rides and is such a very good riding horse. Well done to Gail and I am sure you will be joining us on more rides in the future.
