Dressage 29th June 2014 sponsored by “Strathtay Potato Company”

Big thank you to all who took part in our very first dressage event here at Friesians Scotland, I know that it was a first attempt at dressage for many of you and I was thrilled to see how much effort all of the competitors had put in. Please do not be disheartened if you were not placed as the scores were very respectable in every class and the standard was high which was fantastic!

The reason that I decided to have these dressage classes this year was to help in getting a few Friesian owners started in the sport in a relaxed athmosphere. It can be a little daunting going out to dressage competitions but I am glad that you all came along and took part, with such good results in all of the classes I hope that some if not all of you will continue to push yourselves out into dressage arenas. Dressage is an excellent way of gaining more knowledge and understanding of your horses way of going, improves the partnership between horse and rider and studying the score sheets can be as beneficial (if not more so) as having riding lessons! In the UK it is still so rare to see Friesian owners out competing in high profile competitions with this wonderful breed, I am hoping that a few more owners will be feeling a little more inspired to move forward after last weekends dressage day!

Thank you to our local judge Anna Sieve- Intro and Lee Smith from the Shetlands was writing for her.

Our judge for the prelim – elementary classes was Julia Catling and writing for her Helen Christie, huge thanks to them as they travelled all of the way up from Buckinghamshire for our show!
