Danielle and Renske

Date posted: 5th September 2011

Those of you who have been following the Friesians Scotland website and reading the news section over the last few years may remember a few of the updates posted about Danielle and her Friesian, Renske (Published on friday 24th December 2010 and 26th April 2010).

Danielle had come to me looking for a baroque mare after the sad loss of her first Friesian who had to be put to sleep after irreversible damage caused during travelling in a two horse box. After this horrendous experience Danielle was understandably anxious about putting Renske into a lorry/box. She started to go out and about and then bought her own box this year.

After learning to overcome her fear of travelling her horse and a lot of hard work from both Danielle and Renske the pair seem to have really created a fantastic partnership. I published an email from Danielle in April 2010 when they had recently done their first dressage competition, they had a high score and were awarded 1st place. Below is the most recent update.

“I thought youd love to know yesterday Renske and I competed at the Midland Championships for dressage… and we WON!! We are the Midarc 2011 Dressage champions!!”

I am incredibly pleased for Danielle as it must have been an emotional roller coaster for her but the hard work and dedication is paying off.

Renske is a true baroque, very elegant with a wonderfully biddable nature. Until I met this mare I had the preconception (as many do) that the baroque Friesian’s are lazy with flatter movement but the free flowing, elevated and graceful movement, balance and willing attitude of Renske really did open my eyes. To me she was a little dream horse and I am sure she is with the right person with Danielle.

Well done Danielle and I wish the best of luck to the pair of you for the future!
