Changes for 2014

Date posted: 28th December 2013

We are coming to the end of 2013 and so we are now making plans for the year ahead.

2014 is going to bring a lot of changes for Friesians Scotland as we will be branching out into various other projects. As the Friesian breed are becoming increasingly popular it is becoming more apparent that there are few people who are experienced and/or knowledgeable enough to offer any help to Friesian owners who would like Friesian specific training or would like assistance in getting their horse into competitions. With this in mind I am now going to be setting aside more time to address these issues.

Many of you are already aware that the ‘Friesian Horse Club UK’ is going to be up and running in 2014, preparations for the club are well underway and we have a lot of exciting activities already in the diary for this. Further details will be on the Friesians Scotland website in January so do keep an eye on that!

My priority has been to train Friesians and then rehome them, I have always enjoyed backing horses and then being able to send them off to new owners who really appreciate them. However, I have decided that I would like to concentrate more on a few of my own horses and spend more time competing in dressage. Three months ago I affiliated my little mare Cornelia who is doing very well at the start of her dressage career so I will continue to compete with her next year as well as affiliating another youngster in the next few months.

Another common complaint is that people who don’t own a Friesian have very little or no access to the breed so I am also planning to help people to get to know the breed a little more than they are able to at the moment.

Some of you will have noticed that the online shop of the Friesians Scotland website is no longer there, this is to make way for the new additions to the website in the new year and to enable me to concentrate on the new projects. If anyone would like to purchase tack when they buy a horse from me this will remain an option and for those who are looking for specific items formerly advertised on the website such as saddles, bridles etc I will continue to stock many items and so can still be purchased here.

It has been a very busy year and 2014 is set to be even more so! Thank you to all of those who have been supportive of what we do at Friesians Scotland over the previous years, I hope we will live up to the expectations in our new ventures.

I look forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as meeting more Friesian owners and enthusiasts in the new year. Wishing you all the very best for 2014
